Blue Ridge Parkway Summer 2025

I’ve always heard of the stunning beauty surrounding the Blue Ridge Parkway, but I never truly understood why so many people rave about it until this unforgettable trip. The breathtaking views and picturesque scenic spots were absolutely incredible to see, each one more captivating than the last.

We started our adventurous day by hiking up to the stunning Hawksbill Mountain located in the beautiful Linville Gorge. This particular spot was a bit confusing to navigate our way to, but after some exploration and perseverance, we eventually found our destination. Upon reaching the peak, we were met with an absolutely breathtaking view that left us in awe. My favorite aspect was the incredible jagged rock formation that dramatically broke through the smooth rock surrounding it. As the golden light hit the mountains, our excitement and sense of wonder only grew stronger, making the journey even more rewarding.

After our hike, we decided to spend our midday wandering through the charming little town of Boone, NC, which is nestled just about 20 minutes from where we were planning our next hiking adventure. Boone, NC turned out to be such a delightful and vibrant town, filled with local shops and unique eateries, and when the time came for us to depart, we felt a slight pang of heartbreak at leaving this wonderful place. Ultimately, however, we were on a mission, as the next two destinations we had lined up to visit had been residing on my bucket list for many years now.

The next spot was the legendary photo spot at the Linn Cove Viaduct right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. There was a parking lot about a quarter of a mile from the viaduct, that had a well trodden trail that led us to our destination. Across the road there is a rock that you can climb to get the best view possible. Ultimately, with some communication with my wife, we were able to get the legendary shot that everyone strives for.

After this stunning spot, the next location for photographing the sunset was conveniently just a mile down the road. Rough Ridge mountain presented itself as a much easier and more popular trail compared to Hawksbill, yet it still offered just as incredible and breathtaking views that captivated all who ventured there.

This day was truly full of unforgettable experiences and cherished memories that we will hold close to our hearts. Ultimately, the photos captured during this adventure were some of the best I’ve taken in quite a while. It was such a fun and enjoyable trip, and my wife and I will definitely be making plans to return again soon.
